A Ghostly Halloween Tabletop :: Bone Appétit!

Every year I look forward to doing a Halloween tablescape and every year we do something dark and dramatic. So, this year I thought we’d do something totally different: an all white ghostly graveyard setting!

A runner of bones and candles create the centerpiece while mosquito netting and cheesecloth set the mood. Touches of gold keep the setting elevated and chic, while white spiders and webs complete the scene…

Whenever I think up these tabletops, I also think about what costume themes could emerge from the setting! Obviously, you would go with a variety of looks here: ghosts, mummies, the dead come back to life… I’d probably put my (still dirty) wedding dress to good use and go as a ghostly bride!

We purchased four bags of bones in varying sizes from local craft stores (you can get similar ones right hereand spray painted the hands gold to hold the place cards.

To keep things feeling light, rather than solid white dishes, I rented two layers of glass dishes to go along with the theme!

The skull salt & pepper shakers were a purchase quite some time back from a shop in San Francisco called Dandy, and I’ve been waiting to use them ever since!

And just because we couldn’t possibly make a themed table without a menu to match…

We whipped up a mini coconut layer cake (recipe coming tomorrow!) and topped it with all-white desserts like macarons and marshmallows. Then, we added a cocktail to the mix (that recipe also coming tomorrow!) because that’s how we roll.

My favorite part about this table was honestly how simple it all ways to put together. A big bag of bones, a bunch of white candles, and some decorative netting, and you’re pretty much set! White dishes would totally suffice as would any flatware to recreate this theme at home for your own Halloween (or Day of the Dead!) party.

Have you ever thrown a dinner party for Halloween before? Now that I’m very much over going out for the night, I feel like this is the perfect alternative.
